Parks and Public Lands

The largest number of parks on the Oregon Coast belong to the Oregon State Parks system. There are also many County Parks, often with campgrounds. In addition, the federal lands include quite a few Forest Service campgrounds.

The Oregon Coast is blessed with a great deal of public land which has been dedicated to the enjoyment of the citizens of Oregon and visitors to the state. The foresight of early public officials has been rewarded many times over during the decades since the founding of the state parks system and the establishment of many county parks. Due to the high cost of acquiring land, very few additional parks have been created in the past few decades and we continue to depend on the inventory of lands brought into public ownership by earlier generations.
