The theme this year is "Something Old is New Again." The event kicks off at 7 pm on Friday, June 14, 2013, with a Karaoke contest at the Moose Lodge. Plan on attending the traditional bonfire behind the Interpretive Center from 9-11.
Saturday begins with a Lions Club breakfast at the community center from 7 to 10. More food is available all day -- Waldport Boosters will have Chicken BBQ on Alder Street, the Fire Department is offering "Too Hot to Handle" Sausage BBQ at the station, the Catholic Church has strawberry shortcakes, and a Moose Lodge is selling "Harvey on the Corner" hot dogs. A scavenger hunt will run all day on Saturday. It starts at the interpretive center at the bridge. Check with Mary for details.
Registration for the parade is from 9 to 11, with the parade kicking off at noon from a route that begins at the High School. After the parade, there will be China Lion Dancing Performers in front of China Restaurant, a Kid Zone across from the Moose Lodge, a dunk tank near the post office and fire department. At around 2pm, the Oregon Coast Wind Ensemble will perform at the Community Center and dog agility demonstrations will be located behind Click Here and Doug & Mims.
Dancing in the street with live music will continue from 2 pm until 9. Between 9 and 10, there will be belly dancing and the Sol Fire Dancers at the same location.
Sunday will begin with a Father's Day Breakfast by the Women of the Moose, with a Sand Castle Contest and Kite Flying between the Alsea Port and the bridge to the west. Bed races will be conducted between 1 and 2 in the Alsea Port parking lot. A Keg Toss will be contested between 2 and 3 behind the Interpretive Center.
The evening will end with Movie Time, a theater style screen next to the Moose Lodge. The drawings for the 50/50 and Treasure Chest contest will take place at noon on Monday at Washington Federal Bank.
