The county seat and largest city of Tillamook County, which boasts more cows than people, Tillamook is the supply center for the dairy industry. The Tillamook Cheese Factory is one of the top 10 visitor attractions in the state.

The Dairy Festival and Parade is a major event each June. The Tillamook County Pioneer Museum, located at the corner of Hwys 101 and 6, records the early history of the county and has one of the most extensive natural history collections in the state. The Latimer Quilt & Textile Center is a living arts center for classes and demonstrations, and its textile collection qualifies the center as a museum. The center is a mecca for quilters. Known as "the land of many waters," anglers, clam diggers, and crabbers find Tillamook an exciting area with many fishing opportunities.

South of the city is the Tillamook Air Museum housed in the world’s largest clear-span wood building. The museum has more than 30 World War II planes maintained in flying condition, as well as more than 50 scale-model planes.
