Located in downtown Coos Bay in the art-deco former post office, the Coos Art Museum is the largest art museum on the Pacific Coast between San Francisco and Canada and the third oldest art museum in Oregon. A wide variety of art works in many media are on display.
A special section on the second floor is devoted to Steve Prefontaine, the most famous runner ever produced by Oregon, who was born and raised in Coos Bay.

This is FREE and open to the Public.
This exhibit will be running through February 19, 2007, two exhibitions of art quilts and an exhibit of traditional quilts at the Coos Art Museum in Coos Bay, Oregon.
On display in the Maggie Karl Gallery, SPEAKING IN CLOTH: 6 Quilters, 6 Voice consists of 48 new art quilts by 6 Northwest artists. at the Museum in downtown Coos Bay.

This wonderfully produced book has comments from all the artists and close up imagery of the art quilts – a must for quilters!
On display in the Atrium Gallery is FINE FOCUS '06, an exhibition of small format art quilts by 50 international artists
On display in the Mabel Hansen Gallery will be QUILTS FROM THE PAST, historic quilts from the Coos region. Ranging in age from 85 – 150 years old, this traditional quilts are on loan from the Coos Historical & Maritime Museum
Coos Art Museum is located at 235 Anderson in downtown Coos Bay. Hours: Tues - Fri, 10am - 4pm, Sat 1pm - 4pm. Closed Sunday, Monday and holidays. Admission: $5, $2 for Seniors & Students, Free to Members of CAM and children 12-under.
