Listed as the second oldest lighthous structure on the Oregon Coast, the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse shone only from 1871 to 1874 when it was replaced by the Yquina Head Lighthouse with its brighter light. Located at the Yaquina Bay State Park, north f the Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport, its tower rises 40 feet from a Cape Cod style house. Thought to be haunted, this lighthouse is one of the few Pacific Coast lighthouses with the living quarters located in the same building as the tower. It was relit in 1996 and recognized as a privately maintained navagational tool by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The lighthouse is open as a museum daily, except for major holidays. While there is no day-use fee donations are gladly accepted.
