Real Estate

Many people visit the Oregon Coast and decide that they need to buy real estate here. For some, it's a second home, for others a retirement cottage. Then there are the ones who choose to live and work here, and raise a family.

At one time, an inexpensive "beach shack" could be found, but today there are no low priced oceanfront home left on the market. Oceanview homes are less expensive to buy and less expensive to maintain as well. Homes farther inland enjoy both a lower price and sometimes warmer temperatures.

Oregon land use laws make it difficult to build new homes outside of urban growth boundaries. The large number of regulations and the associated costs have tended to create large subdivisions, with lots for many homes spreading the cost out.
