Mosaic Forms by Tami Barker
Mosaic Forms by Tami Barker offers mosaic forms, tables, windows, and mirrors at their studio in Toledo. A member of the Toledo Arts District, Barker practices the style of "pique assiette mosaic art." One of her specialties is artistically designed tables with irregularly-shaped tiles. Round-shaped mirrors of up to 29 inches in diameter are crafted with tiles of many colors and themes. Such names as Shabby Rose and Cobolt Sun are just two of the several mirrors available. Boat Dreaming, Seashore Sunset, and Kite Sailing are just a few stained glass windows available that include hanging apparatus of hooks and chain. Barker works with tile designs are a larger scale creating home interior and exterior works. For home interiors, the artist creates unique kitchen tile patterning, decorative wall tiles, and stained glass windows. For home exteriors, Barker works with slate and other materials to create interesting and unique walkways and patios. Barker is also responsible the largest mural erected in Oregon. Guests in this burgeoning artist village enjoy the "Toledo Centennial Mosaic Mural." The artist is also commissioned by other communities for murals. As part of her involvement in local coastal communities, Barker offers classes in mosaic art. Her work can be seen at Sun Rose Gallery in Seaside, Oregon. Graduating from George Fox University in 200, Barker was inspired to work with glass while living in San Carlos, Mexico, where she lived seasonally for three years. Originally from Woodside, California, the artist has traveled to several western states and initially moved to Oregon in 1977. The artist currently resides in Yachats.
