Bird Watching
Manzanita
Alder Creek Farm
Restored to fresh- and salt-water marsh with vegetative uplands, this erstwhile dairy farm hosts a broad range of species, including the American kestrel, bald eagle, purple martin, and tree swallow. Numerous shorebirds can be observed during migration, including the red philarope all through winter. Hike the unimproved trail that follows Alder Creek to Nehalem Bay.
In Manzanita, take Highway 101 south and turn west on Underhill Lane. Proceed until the road ends, then park in front of the barn.
