Clatsop Loop Trail, Ecola State Park
This trail was established by Native Americans and followed by the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery in 1806. The trail leads to the Feldenheimer Forest and Seaside, through verdant riparian and Sitka spruce forest. A two-mile loop path meanders back to the parking area. Marbled murrelet nest in the old-growth forest. Breeding here in summer are the violet-green swallow, and Wilson's and orange-crowned warbler. Resident are the bald eagle, peregrine falcon, wrentit, and varied thrush.
From Highway 101 in Cannon Beach, proceed north two miles to Ecola State Park, follow signs to the park entrance, then proceed to the Indian Beach parking lot. Take the short trail west to the viewing deck.
