Astoria Sewage Ponds Overlook
An integral component of the lower Columbia River ecosystem, these sewage lagoons draw migrating dunlin, dowitzer, spotted sandpiper, and numerous duck species, including northern shoveler, scaup, and in the fall and winter, wood duck. Infrequently, one can observe Eurasian wigeon, common teal, and tufted duck. From Highway 30 in Astoria, proceed north on 45th Street, turn right on Cedar Street, then left on 51st Street, turn right on Birch Street, and left on 53rd Street, then follow a quarter-mile to a pullout. Continue on foot past the gate.
