Jewell Meadows Wildlife Management Area
This wildlife management area provides suitable observation of band-tailed pigeon, rufous hummingbird, red-breasted sapsucker, and California quail. Western bluebird like nest boxes at the area headquarters; house wren and calliope hummingbird are seen sporadically. From Astoria, drive 28 miles southeast on Highway 202 to the refuge. Alternatively, from Highway 26, proceed north on Highway 103 nine miles to Jewell, west on Highway 202 1.5 miles to the refuge.
