Eel Creek

Campgrounds are promising observation areas for woodpeckers and small songbirds. Frequently it is effective to lie down and focus a pair of binoculars on treetops to observe the chickadee-vireo-kinglet group and crossbills. Begin on the trail from campsite 50, hike through the forest and out to some of the area's most arresting open dunes.

Birds to see include the pine siskin, chestnut-backed chickadee, Swainson's thrush, wrentit, northern flicker, red crossbill, olive-sided flycatcher, and Anna's hummingbird.
