Bird Watching
North Bend
Horsfall Area Birding
Bluebill Lake dries up in the summer and becomes marshy in the winter. If time is at a premium, walk along the lake's west side and return to the campground through the pine forest. Observe the tidal flats from the highway just north of the Horsfall entrance; birding changes with the tide. Birds to see include the white-tailed kite, northern harrier, violet-green swallow, downy woodpecker, warblers: orange-crowned, yellow, black-throated gray, Townsend's, and hermit; great horned owl, and great egret.
