South Jetty Siuslaw River Birding

After turning north on South Jetty Road, there are six numbered parking areas from which to choose. Number Three is a recommended departure point for viewing the marsh. It is good idea to bring along a spotting scope. Explore the marsh's drier parts, but be wary of disrupting wildlife.

Scramble over the steep, westernmost dune to the shore to view shorebirds, or proceed to the tidal flats at road's end.

Birds to see include the tundra swan, marsh wren, Canada goose, yellow-rumped warbler, red-tailed hawk, sanderling, long-billed curlew, dunlin, and least sandpiper.
